Under the Surface: Processing Millfield

We invite you to explore, to notice, observe, draw, research, collaborate and document the areas of Bretton and Millfield, showcasing them in a new light.

Working as a group with artist Matthew Booker, we will turn the research from our ‘walking workshops’ around Bretton into larger pieces of mixed-media art that documents Millfield in a new way. Using a range of materials, ideas and prompts, we will explore how to visually capture an area, and how to communicate our findings in a publication.

Each session will end with a group discussion about what we have produced.

The workshops are open to anyone aged 12 and over. Please note that as there is an independent element to these workshops, under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Whilst this project is focusing on Millfield, we welcome participants from across the city, whether you have knowledge of the area or not!

This workshop is part of a series titled ‘Under the Surface’ and the aim is to create a special publication for the area made by local people. The publication will be launched in 2019 along with an exhibition of the work created at a special event in Millfield, celebrating all of the work made.

Participants are encouraged to attend all three sessions, however you are welcome to pop along to just one of the three workshops if you cannot commit to all three.
