Cast: Chloe Pirrie, Iain De Caestecker, Joseph Mawle, Morven Christie, Tam Dean Burn

“Shell” is a tightly contained drama, an impressive debut for writer-director Scott Graham. The story of Shell, a girl who lives with her father Pete in a remote gas station in the Scottish Highlands, is a fascinating study of isolation and the affects of loss on a family. Graham’s cameras capture every sideways glance, hint of a smile, light touch and uncomfortable scowl to let us see how isolated this father and daughter are from the rest of civilization. This style of interaction creates tension that sometimes feels rather dangerous. Not a single word or second is wasted, every glance or movement carrying so much weight.
Scott Graham finds claustrophobia in the widest-open landscape, and isolation in the closest relationship.

Imaginative, intelligent and genuinely moving.

Film Club “FRAME”, launched in January 2012, brings the most interesting, challenging, heart-breaking cinema. It is an independent, small club based in a lovely church. The films are screened once a month, usually on Fridays. After every screening you are welcome to stay and discuss, share your views, make new friends and enjoy a pleasant evening.

You are welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks.

Free of charge but…a small donation will be appreciated to cover the costs.
