Britten Sinfonia: Outdoor Classical Concert
One of the UK’s leading chamber orchestras is to make its Peterborough debut as part of Arts Fest’s 2013’s Festival On Tour programme.
Britten Sinfonia will be performing a concert at Thorpe Hall Hospice on 11th August, with 50% of the ticket sales being donated to the Sue Ryder Hospice appeal.
Set in the wonderful surroundings of Thorpe Hall, this open-air evening concert will delight and enthrall music lovers with spectacular performances filled with energy, innovation and excitement.
The concert opens with Grieg’s ever-popular Holberg Suite and then journeys by way of Elgar, Stravinsky, Bartok and Steve Reichthrough some of the most thrilling and evocative string music of the 20th century with Jacqueline Shave (Britten Sinfonia leader) and Miranda Dale (principal 2nd violin) performing Bach’s colourful and inventive Concerto for Two Violins.
‘There are few more thrilling things in British music than Britten Sinfonia on top form’.
